The Best Salads for Christmas

Christmas is three days of non-stop feasting. We shelve our diets for this time and enjoy a variety of delicious foods. An integral part of the holiday feast are salads, which are dishes suitable for both breakfast and dinner, as well as a side dish for various types of meals. But, what kind of salad to make for the holidays? There are a few suggestions!

Vegetable Salad

The queen of Polish holiday menu - vegetable salad with mayonnaise. Every hostess has her original recipe for this dish. Most often, however, the traditional version of salad containing only basic ingredients reigns. The whole secret is to make sure they are in similar proportions and are chopped into pieces of the same size.
The ingredients to prepare a traditional vegetable salad? Carrots, parsley and celery from vegetable broth, pre-cooked potatoes, raw onions, pickled cucumber and a hard-boiled egg. Mix the diced ingredients with a teaspoon of mustard, salt, pepper and a little mayonnaise (about 2-3 tablespoons). It will be perfect.

Herring Salad

Fish dishes are an important part of the holiday menu. It is therefore worth preparing a salad with delicious herring à la Matjas. To the diced herring, add a proportional amount of hard-boiled eggs cut into thick pieces, two pickled cucumbers and two onions cut into finer dice. Seasoning with pepper and salt will be unnecessary - herring is salty on its own. Mix everything with a little skyr yoghurt and mayonnaise.

Gyros-type Salad

Gyros salad is a great proposal for the holiday table. It is worth serving it in a glass dish so that the layers of the salad also please the eye. Cut chicken breast fillet into small dices and fry with gyros seasoning. After cooling, place on the bottom of a glass bowl. Spread red onion slices over the meat and spread with ketchup. The next layers are diced pickled cucumber, bell peppers and canned corn. Put mayonnaise on the top layer, cover with chopped Chinese cabbage and chives.

Pasta Salad With Pineapple

You can also break the sour flavours with a salad with an exotic touch. For this purpose, we recommend pasta salad with pineapple. Cook pasta with a fine texture (e.g.. shells) al dente and rinse with cold water. Stir in drained canned corn, diced pineapple and leek cut into half slices. Add canned ham cut into small pieces and mix with a little mayonnaise. Add a little salt and pepper for contrast.
